Little Free Library Trail of BOO! BOOkworms welcome!

Spooky season has arrived at our little Free Library.

Liam and I had so much fun decorating our neighborhood Little Free Library for Halloween. We have so many young children in the neighborhood and thought it’d be fun to make a cute little spooky trail for the kids to walk thru after they get a book.

Dare to get a book!

I had been wanting to do this for a while. A green bin had sat on our porch for a couple of weeks, and we never got around to using it. On Saturday morning, I grabbed the bin and brought Liam, still in his pajamas, with me. I said, “Let’s go decorate the Library Nook!” Liam really enjoyed hammering nails into the tree, that was definitely his favorite part!
I wish we had gotten to this sooner, but I’m so happy we finished it in time for Halloween. Next year, I plan to add spooky books and some coloring books to the library. Perhaps we can even set up a small pumpkin patch so children can pick their own pumpkins. Don’t you love it when all the ideas start coming together at the last minute? I need to be like the department stores and have my Halloween items out by the end of summer!A white ceramic skull sitting on top of a stack of books alongside a colorful pile of mini decorative pumpkins a long a wooded dirt path.

Look closely as you walk the trail-you never know who might be reading a long with you!

I called my husband over and asked, “Is this too spooky for the little ones?” He laughed and replied, “Look at all the scary decorations around town!” I guess that meant it’s not spooky at all! I think this might be the start of a new little tradition, and next year I will try to make it even spookier. Happy Halloween!
